This post is in response to the blog: "What Would Happen if Several States Seceded?"

Scrolling through the comments on the "Virginia Daddy" blog, I repeatedly saw it being pointed out that there is no mechanism within the Constitution, for any state to legally secede from the Union.
And yes, that's true.
However, it's also true that there is also no mechanism within the Constitution, to protect the states, & the people, whenever the built in protections, of the the Constitution, esp. the 9th & 10th Amendments, have failed.
By no means is the failure to protect the states & the citizens coincidental. Rather, the failure has been a long time coming, & inspired by those that simply choose not to recognize, uphold & enforce, any of the built in protections of the Constitution.
With that being obvious & true, at an ever increasing pace, today, it's clear that the federal govt. is & has been operating outside of it's Constitutional mandate. And operating within an illegitimate & illegal framework.
Now, reasonable people will all agree, for every injustice, there must be some form of remedy, that will eventually lead toward justice. And under our current political constraints, I can see no clear path into remedy, within sight. That is, at least, prior to our out of control federal govt. dragging us all down into a lower standard of living, hyper inflation, & outright social & economic chaos.
However, with all of the above in mind, it would be foolhardy for anyone to consider secession lightly. Without some further attempts at reconciliation. And, without moving forward in a deliberate way, within a legal framework not unlike that our Founding Fathers utilized. When they were faced with an increasing tyranny.
Unlike many other states, Texas is uniquely positioned to begin this debate concerning any future considerations of secession. Aside from secession being a long considered topic & concept for conversation here, we do have the means & ability, to separate from the Union, without much, if any, social or economic pain. LBJ insisted that Texas have an independent electrical grid. And, we are a net exporter of nearly everything the the USA, & the rest of the world needs. We have deep water ports for easy & swift global trade, as well. And, perhaps most importantly, many Texans still have a rather strong frontier spirit, & independent streak.
Also, from another pragmatic point, what, if anything, could anyone or any group do, should Texas decide to secede? We have the means in every way to provide for & defend ourselves. And we certainly have the will to sustain ourselves.
And last but not least, any proposition of anyone visiting any violence upon Texans, esp. by those that don't even have the gumption to defend themselves, against corrupt labor unions, street thugs & entrenched politician pirates that have steadily taken away the Rights, will & dignity of the citizens, for decades, is at best, laughable.
Without a doubt, Texans will be considering all these matters carefully & seriously, now that Governor Perry & many others have placed these issues onto the table. And in the end, we will certainly decide & do whatever is best, for all current & future Texans.
